Sound Advice

The question and answer chapters in this book are a compilation of apprximately 90 % of his question and answer chapters in all his previous books. This book does have some new information on guitar amplifier repair. I would recomand this book for someone who has knowlege of tube amp theory and repair experience.

Another Good Book in a Series of Tube Wisdom

Yes, another volume of Tube Guitar Amp wisdom from Gerald Weber. I can't remember if this is the 4th or 5th book in his series, but no matter. IT's loaded with good information. As I said in a review of one of his other books, (I believe it was "Tube Amp Talk,") don't get all hung-up on the stuff that repeats. So what? These books are compilations of articles he wrote for a few different magazines, and because I doubt they were edited prior to binding into various volumes, there will be similar information in several places. But it's all good. The important thing here is that Gerald explains tube powered guitar amplifier circuits in a way that easy to understand. Components are discussed and their functions in circuits. Each book, including this one, has questions that were submitted by various individuals, and Gerald's comprehensive answers to each. His recommendations, mod's you can do, and all sorts of other information. His books have helped me understand quite readily what has eluded me for many years because other books I have found in the past have all been way too technical, detailed for engineers, and absolutely LOADED with math. Not so here. Gerald only gives enough of the basic gee whiz math that is required to understand some of the basic concepts of electricity so you can better grasp why certain components are selected to do what they do. All good stuff, and great reference books if you ever dream of building, repairing or working on tube guitar amplifiers.
