Harris' survey on Textiles has been a publishing hit since it first appeared in this hardback editon in 1993. And this is notable in a field full of beautiful books with beautiful pictures of beautiful textiles.

I believe the success of this book is that it actually delivers on its promise of providing encyclopedic information, with illustrations, of the entire history of textiles from ancient times. Harris and her many contributors offer both breadth and depth here. And, happily, the text serves the illustrations and the illustrations serve the text. One can cruise through the book finding inspiration and delight or one can dig in and actually study an aspect in the history of the culture of textiles.

Book details: large format chunky hardback, red cloth over boards with a sewn binding. In dustjacket. 3.75 pounnds. 320 pp. Something like 400 color illustrations.

Index, Glossary, 6 pp of bibliographic information.

Practical Guide When Making This Challenging Decision

No one can tell you what the experience of changing churches is like unless they have been there! This book is presented with wise counsel from ministers who have been there. Much of the advice you receive first hand on this subject is less than adequate because it is not thorough. When you study all of these essays together they are sincere, simple, and complete. This is a must read for those who are stuggling with the choice to move. The one knock I would make on the book is that sometimes it is not time to move and the book says very little about when to stay where you are. More detail should be given to the decision making process.

Helpful Book on Pastors Changing Churches

Paul Robbins is the editor of this book, but each chapter is actually written by a different person. Most of the authors are pastors, and most of the chapters were originally published as articles in Leadership Journal. Various chapters discuss deciding when you should look for a new position, how to candidate (with very helpful questions to ask a search committee) and how to get off to a good start at your new church. The book is not so much about how to decide if its time to move, but rather when you've already decided, here is how you go about things. This is the most helpful book I have read on the subject.

About the Author
Founder of “The Wright Centers of Advanced Bodywork, Inc.”; which are healthcare facilities devoted to the treatment and ongoing clinical research of myofascial imbalances and soft tissue pain.

Kyle graduated in 1984 from the Suncoast School of Massage Therapy, Inc., located in Tampa, Florida. He was certified by the St. John’s Clinical Institute in Neuromuscular Therapy one year later. He has assisted on a national level with leading teachers in the field of Neuromuscular Therapy from 1986 through 1991.

Kyle is co-founder and CEO of the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy, Inc. where he developed the clinical and practical portion of the neuromuscular and structural bodywork curriculum.

He is also co-founder and co-owner of the Southeastern Schools of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy, Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina and Charleston, Greenville, and Columbia, South Carolina.

Kyle is on the teaching rotation of the Complimentary / Alternative Medicine (CAM) curriculum at the University of North Florida, located in Jacksonville, Florida. He teaches proper posture, myofascial imbalances and their relation to musculoskeletal pain. He has been a speaker at:

Sally J. Rogers, PhD, is Professor of Psychiatry at the MIND Institute at the University of California, Davis. She served as Founding Director of the University of Washington Autism Center. Practical and Easy to Implement Advice for Caregivers

This book was an excellent resources for turning everyday activities and routines into learning opportunities for my toddler with autism. They give just enough background and lots of practical advice that I could start using right away. The strategies were fun for both myself and my child! It was so rewarding to see my daughter interacting more and more. Each chapter gives you a strategies to try with checklists and a handy 'refrigerator list' of important points to keep in mind. Because this book encourages you to add to everyday routines (diaper changing, meal times, etc.) it didn't take a great deal of time or effort to implement the strategies. I highly recommend this caregivers of for young toddlers on the autism spectrum.

Haven't received a proper diagnosis yet... Still I found this book to be full of suggestions that I can employ with my son to engage him. If he is on the Spectrum we'll have a head start. If he isn't .... These activities and approaches will simply help his development and give 'quality' to our playtime. Good book.
