Nice Collection, But Not Really Judy's Versions

I don't mind owning this large collection of popular songs, but these specimens don't totally coincide with Judy's special versions. They are more like the standard PVG versions that are widely available elsewhere. For example, the version of "When You're Smiling (The Whole World Smiles with You)" contains only the A section sung by virtually all singers of the songs. It omits Judy's special B section ("If you. . . .And for heaven's sake retain a calm demeanor/If a cop walks up and hands you a subpoena") as well as her C section ("Cause when you're crying don't you know/ that your makeup starts to run/and your eyes get red and scrappy. . ."). I really bought the collection to own and sing Judy's versions, but this collection stymies me.

Nice Songbook for any Judy Garland fan!

Again, Hal Leonard has published a very nice piano songbook, full of classic favorites. The music itself is printed clearly and is very easily read. Included are songs from many of her films, concerts and TV show. The film songs section is nicely compiled with a page giving details about each film and a few movie photos. All of her films are included, even if there are no songs from them. I was particularly interested in this volume because it includes the song, "Lorna", which is actually the theme from "The Judy Garland Show". It also features a wonderful list of her recordings and each song that she sang on every TV show episode. This would be a great thing for any fan of Judy Garland!

Enjoyable!

This really is a very special keepsake if you are a fan of Judy Garland, and a fairly advanced pianist. The only things I was somewhat dissatisfied with were, one, it did not include any songs from Easter Parade, and two, several of the songs had verses before the chorus which were different from the actual song (such as "For Me and My Gal"), or had no verse at all when it would have been a nice addition (such as "Embraceable You").
However, as I said the book should be a very enjoyable part of any piano library, and I am glad I bought it.
